Funiculus 0.60 is out...it will be on Installer soon (via the ModMyiFone.com source), but until then, here is a copy for those who want to install it manually:

This is great; my favorite tuner; use it all the time - where do I donate?

I've been using this tuner since ver. 0.02 and I love it!
It's my favourite app on the iPhone.
One suggestion for the third face; most guitarmusic is written transposed one octave up - so it's all in the G-clef. Might be a nice option..
Thanks for a great app!
How do I donate?

Thanks for the feedback...
About the donations...I don't really do the whole donations thing.

About the pitch transposition: I'll probably add a feature next version that allows one to transpose the pitch. (An octave for the guitar, smaller amounts for non-concert pitch instruments). So if transposition mode is on, it will show both the standard note and the transposed note.

Everaldo: I left some comments about your graphics following your other comments...on a previous entry, not sure which one.

I love this app! Many's the time I get someplace and realize I've left my clip on tuner in a different case.

One nit: could the next version remember the screen / mode last used? Like if I've selected the instrument tab, and then scrolled to mandolin or banjo, it would be cool if it would remember next time it started.

Way cool!

how about a lute template?

Hey John,

First of all, great software, I've been wanting a tuner app for my phone for years (long before the iPhone ;)

But here's the thing, I'm not only a geek, guitar player and iphone owner, I also work in interactive design. I'd love to redesign the interface for this software if you're interested, you can take a look at my web portfolio here:

http://www.ollie.net.nz

And drop me an email if you're keen (I'm talking about doing it for free obviously).

I think with some professional design this software could go to the next level :)

Hi,

I'm using funiculus v0.6 and I find it excellent and very accurate.

For me this is the best iphone app ever.

This app is a real chromatic tuner and not only a guitar tuner!
I personally play wind instruments (clarinet and trumpet) and it works like a charm with them.
If I can suggest you some improvements/features, here we are:
1) For wind instruments, it's not unusual to be tuned at 442Hz and not at 440Hz as guitars, pianos, etc. A menu selecting the reference A frequency will be very interesting.
2) Moreover, wind instruments are sometimes transposing instruments; most typical instrument traspositions are: Bb (clarinet, trumpet, sopran/tenor sax, etc), Eb (alt/bariton sax, alt clarinet, althorn, etc), F (french horn, etc) and then the rest. This means that when a trumpet (Bb instrument) read and play a C, the real (effective) played note is a Bb. An option for selecting the transposition key would be very useful.
3) I don't know if the omission of the amplitude meter in the score mode is connected to technical problems. If this is not the case, the amplitude meter would be funny.

These are just suggestions, if you like to include them I will be very happy, otherwise it will be OK too ;-)

Thanks again for this wonderful app.

Jay: That will be fairly easy to do.

Eric: Didn't know the lute still existed, but sure.

Ollie: I think the UI elements are going to depend on what Funiculus will "emulate" in the future...we don't yet know the route we are going to take, but whatever it is, the graphics are going to improve. We might add the capability for "themes", similar to what Garf has now.

Bernie: 1. Ok
2. Ok...(there will be dual display for transposed instruments)
3. Not sure what you mean...the amplitude meter was moved to a single mode mainly because it took up a lot of space...I was thinking about adding transposing controls to the right margin of clef mode.

Hey dude, want to thank you for a great job on a fabulous app, and just as I was about to splash some cash on a tuner! By the way, why don't you want to accept donations? After all, what better way for me to show my appreciation!

Thank you very much. But I would feel odd accepting donations...I've never been big on "beggarware"... I've been accepted into the "SDK club", and assuming this app is approved, it will be on iTunes for probably between $0 and $2 dollars...in lieu of donations, you can buy the SDK version.

And for whom it may concern, the new version will be coming out soon...I've already added a lot of the functionality...I just need to design a UI interface to go with it. (And I can't seem to find any confirmation for that Lute tuning...I want to make sure I add the most common tunings before I add others...I may just end up adding the "add-a-custom-tuning" option to the next version.)

Excellent app!. I have one question.
What is the note detection algorithm you are using?,
it is based on the FFT?, it is really fast an accurate.
I will appreciate any information
